Steve Smith is an Australian cricketer. His full name is Steven Peter Devereux Smith. He is representing Australia in all the formats of cricket, New South Wales Blues, Sydney Sixers and Rising Pune Supergiant. He is the captain of the Australia national cricket team across all the three formats. . In the start, his role in the team was an all-rounder, but now he is just playing as a batsman in the Australia team. On 20 March 2017 he reached a Test batting rating of 941, the fifth highest of all time.Steve Smith was born on 2 June 1989 in Sydney, Australia. His father, Peter Smith, is an Australian and mother, Gillian Smith, belongs to England. He was studid at Menai High School, but dropped out of the Higher School Certificate (HSC) to play cricket in England. Smith is also very interested in Baseball. He played his junior cricket with Illawong Cricket Club and his first season was 1994/95 where he played in the under 8. His first century was in the 1998/99 season at Casuarina Oval, Alfords Point, 124 not out.
Steve Smith made his first class debut against Western Australia at the SCG on 24 January 2008, where he scored 33 in his only innings as NSW defeated WA outright. He was the leading wicket taker at the 2008 KFC Big Bash tournament. He was part of the New South Wales team that won the 2009 Twenty20 Champions League. He made his international cricket debut in a T20 international match against Pakistan at Melbourne in February 2010. He was playing as a leg spinner in this match. The same month, he made his one-day international debut against the West Indies at Melbourne. He made his Test match debut in July 2010 against Pakistan at Lords. He was selected mainly for his bowling, and batted down the order.
