Biography

Mashrafe Bin Mortaza is a Bangladeshi cricketer who plays as a right arm medium-fast bowler for the Bangladesh cricket team. He is the captain of the One Day Internationals for Bangladesh national cricket team and a former T20I captain, until his retirement. He emerged as a most successful pace blower in Bangladesh although he is the most sufferer player from injury in Bangladesh Team.

Mashrafe Mortaza was born on 5 October 1983 in Narail district, Bangladesh to Golam Mortaza and Hamida Mortaza. He made his international debut in ODI cricket on 23 November 2001 against Zimbabwe. He played his first Test match for Bangladesh on 8 November 2001 against Zimbabwe. His T20 debut was on 28 November 2006 against Zimbabwe.
Mashrafe Mortaza was captain in one Test and seven One-Day Internationals (ODIs) between 2009 and 2010, later he was bound to leave captaincy for injury. In his absence, Shakib Al Hasan became the captain of Bangladesh team.
Mashrafe Mortaza played in the 2009 Indian Premier League for the team Kolkata Knight Riders. He showed his magnificent performance as a captain of the Dhaka Gladiators in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). He is the winning captain of BPL for the first and second competition.

Mashrafe Mortaza retired from Test cricket in 2009 due to continuous back injuries and continued to play in shorter formats. He announced his retirement from T20 internationals during the first T20 game against Sri Lanka on 4 April 2017. He played his last T20I on 6 April 2017 against Sri Lanka in R. Premadasa Stadium.
