Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is a British actress, model and activist. She was born on April 15, 1990 in Paris, France to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby. Her parents separated when she was young and she live with her mother in Oxfordshire, England. She has two sisters, Nina Watson and Lucy Watson and two brothers, Toby Watson and Alex Watson. She studied at the Dragon School in Oxford. She studied singing, dancing and acting from the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts.

Emma Watson made her screen debut in 2001 with the fantasy film Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, directed by Chris Columbus. The film was the highest-grossing film of 2001 and earned her the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress and nominated for five awards. The next year, she starred in the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, for which she received an Otto Award from the German magazine Bravo. In 2004, she again starred in the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. She began her modeling career in 2005 with a photo shoot for Teen Vogue and was the youngest star to grace its cover.
