Purnima is a Bangladeshi film actress. Her nickname is Rita. She was discovered by director Zakir Hossain in the early of her life. She is one of the most beautiful female celebrities in the country. She won National Film Awards and Meril-Prothom Alo Best Actress Awards.

Purnima was born on 11 July 1981, in Chittagong, Bangladesh to the father, Mohammad Hanif and mother, Sufia Begum. She was raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh with her parents. She has two sisters named Rekha and Dilruba Hanif. She was very much interested about media world from her early childhood and finally builds up a career in the Dhallywood film industry.

Purnima made her debut in film career with the movie E Jibon Tomar Amar in 1997 when she was in class eight. She acted with Riaz in Moner Majhe Tumi in 2003 which is the most commercially successful film. She also acted Megher Por Megh in 2004 based on Bangladesh liberation war director by Chashi Nazrul Islam. She also showed her terrific performance in the film Shuva, story based on Rabindranath Tagore‘s short story Shuvashini for which she received critical acclaim. In this film, she acted as a girl who can’t talks. Her other notable commercial successes are Hridoyer Kotha (2006) Akash Chhoa Bhalobasa (2008), Poran Jaye Jolia Re (2010), Matir Thikana (2011), I love you (2012) and Judge Barrister Police Commissioner (2013). She also showed her performance quality in various TV advertisements.

Purnima married to a businessman Ahmed Fahad Jamal on 4 November 2007. They have a daughter named Arshia Umaija, who was born on 13 April 2014.
