Ranveer Singh Bhavnani is an Indian film actor who appears in Bollywood film industry. He always wanted to be an actor from his childhood days. He is the recipient of Filmfare Best Male Debut Award for Band Baaja Baaraat (2010) and Best Actor for Bajirao Mastani (2016). He has received an additional Best Actor nomination at the ceremony for Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013).

Ranveer Singh was born on 6 July 1985 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India to Jagjit Singh Bhavnani and Anju Bhavnani. He has an elder sister, Ritika Bhavnani. He is the maternal cousin of actress Sonam Kapoor and producer Rhea Kapoor. He completed his education from H.R. College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. He later went to United States to pursue Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University, Bloomington. After completing his studies, he came back to Mumbai in 2007, worked for few years as copywriter with agencies like O&M and JWT.

In January 2010, Ranveer Singh was called for an audition with Yash Raj Films. They were looking for a lead role in their film Band Baaja Baaraat. He went for the audition where he was asked to perform two scenes. Aditya Chopra, the vice president of Yash Raj films was very impressed by his acting skills. After two weeks, Ranveer Singh was finalized for the lead role in the romantic comedy Band Baaja Baaraat opposite Anushka Sharma. The film was commercially and critically successful movie. Then he has acted many other successful movies like Goliyon ki Rasleela - Ram Leela, Lootera, Gunday, Bajirao Mastani and many more.
