Colin James Farrell is an Irish actor. He was born on 31 May 1976 in Castleknock, Dublin, Ireland to Rita Farrell and Eamon Farrell. His father was a football player, who played for the team ‘Shamrock Rovers FC’ and ran a health food shop. He has an older brother named Eamonn Farrell and two sisters named Claudine Farrell and Catherine Farrell. He was studied at St. Brigid's National School, and finished secondary schooling from Castleknock College. He then went to Gormanston College, a co-educational, Catholic school located in Gormanston Castle, Dublin.

Colin Farrell started making his guest appearances within the television along with the shows and the films. He appeared in the BBC television drama Ballykissangel in 1998. He made his film debut in 1999 with the drama The War Zone, which directed by English actor Tim Roth. He also appeared in Ordinary Decent Criminal with Kevin Spacey and Linda Fiorentino. In 2000, he was discovered by Hollywood when Joel Schumacher cast him in the lead role in the war drama Tigerland. He then appeared in many notable films such as Hart's War (2002), S.W.A.T. (2003), Intermission (2003), A Home at the End of the World (2004), In Bruges (2008), Ondine (2009), Horrible Bosses (2011) and many more.
