Biography

Kajol is an Indian film actress who is known for her work in Bollywood films. She also known by her married name Kajol Devgan. She has won numerous accolades, including six Filmfare Awards, five Star Screen Awards and four Zee Cine Awards. He was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2011 by the Government of India. Kajol is a philanthropic woman, involved with humanitarian works and helps helpless and hopeless people.

Kajol was born as Kajol Mukherjee on 5 August 1974 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She is the daughter of late filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee and actress Tanuja Samarth. She has a younger sister named Tanishaa Mukerji. She was very stubborn and impulsive girl from early childhood and her parents separated when she was young. She studied at the St Joseph Convent Boarding School in Panchgani but dropped out for passionate in media world.

Kajol made her screen debut in the romantic drama Bekhudi (1992) alongside Kamal Sadanah, where her mother Tanuja played a role as her mother. The film was a commercial failure but she was noted for her performance. Then she acted in the 1993 commercially successful thriller film Baazigar opposite Shah Rukh Khan, directed by Abbas-Mustan. In 1994, she starred in the movie Udhaar Ki Zindagi alongside Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, which earned her critical acclaim. The next year, she acted in the movie Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge with co-actor Shah Rukh Khan, for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.
In 2006, Kajol showed a terrific performance in the movie Fanaa opposite Aamir Khan and won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.
In 2015, Kajol starred in the romantic action film Dilwale with Shah Rukh Khan for the seventh time. The film was directed by Rohit Shetty and also starred Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon.

Kajol married to actor Ajay Devgan on 24 February 1999, after a long courtship. The couple has a daughter named Nysa Devgan (born on 2003) and a son named Yug Devgan (born on 2010).
